Trump Calls Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the media. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Service details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy led the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and halt providing entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told the program that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
