This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as sparing festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
