In the wake of a crucial victory at the Lusail Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver has substantially reduced the margin in the title race. He now finds himself just 12 points behind leader Lando Norris and in front of teammate his McLaren rival, everything is in place for a thrilling three-way championship battle at the famous Yas Marina Circuit.

The incredible part of this late-season charge so impressive is the margin he has fought back. Following the Zandvoort round in late August, he was a massive over a century of points behind the then-leader Oscar Piastri and had essentially conceded his title chances.

The reversal began with substantial car developments introduced by his team at the Italian Grand Prix. Modifications to the vehicle's underbody and aerodynamic package finally addressed persistent handling problems, allowing Verstappen to regain confidence with the car once more.

Following those upgrades, his performance has been utterly dominant, achieving five wins and several top-three finishes. He was eager to highlight the unified work behind this success.

"We have triumphed where maybe the odds were against us, by executing the right call as a team," he noted. "My collaboration with my engineer, GP and the whole team... we are really well integrated."

The Stakes for a Memorable Decider.

With the paddock travel to Abu Dhabi, the points situation is perfectly defined.

• The championship leader can secure his maiden world title if he outpaces both his two rivals or achieves a podium finish.
• The challenger must win and hope that Norris is not in the top three.
• The third contender, trailing by sixteen points, must also win and see his teammate place outside the top five.
