Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
