Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
