In a bizarre collaboration that challenges traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Revealed

According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden group.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking moment showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Content

Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana together with numerous objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
